Out and Proud
So finally the one month where everyone tries to become the figure of equality among their friends or their "social circle" has arrived. Its the PRIDE month. I am happy that we have such a month once in an year when those belonging to the LGBTQ+ community get recognized or get equal rights etc.. And the most interesting fact- The entire society steps up for these people. Its feels as if I have seen a thousand Instagram stories on this issue, even though it's just the second day of the month and I am actually very happy about them.
But the question is when will we practice what we preach? Like you can tell me I am wrong only if you haven't seen transgender people on the traffic lights, only if you haven't seen the society criticizing such people, only if you haven't seen the family members of these people give up on them and only if you haven't even jokingly given various names to such people. I mean we live in the 21st century and even an infant now has an Instagram handle. And the irony? People who mockingly criticize the LGBTQ+ community are putting up stories saying "LOVE is LOVE is LOVE". Those people where are you during the rest of the 11 months? Wait let me guess! You are in your homes, sitting comfortably on your sofas and criticizing people who dare to come out with their real sexuality and likeness in the public in one way or the other? I mean mocking such people doesn't make you cool.
And those showing their support only on social media. People it's good to show your support but why you just putting up stories? Like this wont help them anyways because they won't get what they want because XYZ person put up a story asking the same. You have an option to participate in their marches, work with NGOs or better collect donations for them. And now I know what most of you would say. "IT'S PANDEMIC GOING ON!". Dude I mean where does the pandemic go when you guys are planning trips with your family? Where does the pandemic go when you are partying with your friends? Where does the pandemic go when you carelessly come out of your homes? STOP USING PANDEMIC AS PER YOUR OWN CONVENIENCE. Putting up stories just for the sake of it doesn't make you look a social activist. Fingers which are running on mobile phones can be put to a better use by actually doing something that makes a difference.
You know what our problem is? We have spoilt the entire purpose of having a separate month only for LGTBQ+ community. What we need to realize is that they don't want to live like victims. They want to live like everyone else. They want to be accepted and they demand nothing else.
DO WHAT ACTUALLY MATTERS. MAKE THE RIGHT CALL.

Broo tbh u killed this one!! Its a new one but with a different point of view!! Just sitting at ur homes and updating about a social issue on ur insta or whatsapp, doesn't count but doing something for such people in reality counts.
