THE RAPE CULTURE

"When you rape, bury, burn a woman you only decrease essential life energy on this planet."

The most disturbing crime a human can commit is torture another person - not only mentally but physically too. We hope that such a crime never existed, but sadly it does exist and people call it  "The Rape Culture". In this culture some demons of the society try to physically harm and torture a girl just to prove themselves macho and strong. But what they don't understand is that even they have their mother and their sisters at their homes.

Now many of us usually pass our ideas about how should the rapists be punished. Many of us say they should be hanged to death, some say they should be shot. Why doesn't anyone say that we should do something so that there are no rapes? We are living in the 21st century where we are crossing all boundaries in development of science and technology, but still the girls are not allowed to go out late at night in many places. This it what is true disgrace to our society. According to me, even if one woman in our country feels unsafe anywhere and at any time then there is no true development.

Although the government launched many new policies and laws to protect girls but still there are 49 rapes in India per hour. Is this what we call development? Is this what we are proud of? I think although the science went too far in development but humanity lagged a lot behind. It is not only the duty of the government to ensure girl safety and support women empowerment, but it is also the girl herself who has to support herself because if one didn't support and help himself the no one would.

All the boys should understand that a true man is not the one who tortures a girl but the one who supports her to be herself. The kind of society I want to give the future generations is made of complete trust. An ideal society is not the one where girls need to be empowered but the one where they are already empowered.

I want to ask if we are so feminist then why is it so that girls need to be empowered? If we were right then girls would be safe all around. She wouldn't carry a pepper spray wherever she went to protect herself. I want all the boys to think what would they go through if their sisters are insulted or humiliated by other men just to prove  how manly they are.

I feel sad when the fathers feel tensed when their daughters don't return, when the mother calls her friends to look out for her, when the brother just prays to God that her sister is safe. I think that just one Nirbhaya was enough to teach us a lesson that the end of all this is just misery and nothing else.  I think our society does not need any more Nirbhayas.

  2. Truly written sarthak...Really happy to see tht there are still boys/ men out there who think like this...
But I believe tht women shuld be empowered but its also tht boys shuld be taught from theri childhood tht they shuld respect women and instead of acting like animals, they shuld act as humans.. Their manly ego will not hurt if they become supportive rather than aggressive..
Rest its really awesome wht u have written.. keep going with it.
