Is it Ram or Rahim?
We the young lads in India are no strange to the 'Ram-Rahim Case' which happened in August of 2017. It was a time when a criminal used the name of a Hindu God just to carry out his misdeeds and tried to easily get away with it. It was the period when some highly stupid people got down to violence just to protect a rapist from getting punished. Now this case evoked a question within me- why do we use the name of God just everywhere- from helping us earn our bread and butter to carrying out forced religion changes across the world?
Not only this but some people use Gods as a medium of jokes and try to be funny at the expense of other people religious sentiment. I know this because some time ago I was watching a news channel where 6 popular stand up comedians were accused of making fun of the Hindu God and Goddesses. It was the day after bhoomi poojan ceremony. At first I thought that it was normal if someone had to do this to earn money but later I realised it was never okay.
Why is it that God and Goddesses are targeted again and again just because the person doesn't like the other person's religion? Let me ask you something was the movie PK absolutely fine? There a scene in the movie where Hindu God Shivji was disrespected because he was shown running after Aamir Khan. I mean when do you see Gods running like this in the streets? It was absolutely unacceptable for Hindus and there anger was completely justified.
Coming back to the stand up comedians, 4 out of 6 were muslims. I not am saying muslims are bad but I am saying that it is just because of 4 people that the entire community was questioned. I mean why did they chose Gods as a matter of joke? One of them even compared Ram Mandir to a bar.
I think it is due to our constitution that such people have the guts to just walk about in anywhere and speak absolute nuisance. I think it is us, we the people, who boost up these people and then crib for the wrong such comedians do.
This has now become a trend in bollywood. Some popular examples are OMG! and PK. In both of these movies the Almighty was disrespected in one way or the other. I want to ask these so called "elite bollywood class" who the hell are you to make fun of one religion. Aamir khan never disrespected Islam just because he follows it. Even in Islam there are many practices which are questionable and controversial. These need to be discussed in the public sphere (like triple talak and halala). What hurts the most is that the lead actress in PK was a Hindu but still allowed such things to happen. When it comes to nepotism or lack of oppurtunities in Bollywood all of us share insta stories and make a havoc on social sites but when it comes to these topics no one speaks about them.
Not only in Bollywood but we humans who consider ourselves the most intelligent beings have proven to be the mst stupid of all over and over again by beleiving people like Ram Rahim and Asaram who have ruined uncountable lives and are now behind the bars. It is quite amusing that people who were first considered the people of God are now behind the bars serving their time.
We the new generation want to live in a society where people give the milk which they offer the God on Shivratri to poor people, where people give the blankets to a old person lying the cold rather than offering them in the Masjids.
I am not trying to prove any community or religion superior over the other but I am trying to explain that making fun of other communities in any form is not funny. It is not cool. I want these "30-40 year mature people" to grow up and raise their voice against the wrong.
We all are now tired of all this and WE WANT A CHANGE.
